REIKI
Reiki – pronounced “Ray Kee” originates from Japan and is often translated as “Universal Life Force Energy”
Rei is translated as “sacred”, “soul” or “spirit” which is the knowledge and wisdom of the Universe.
Ki is life force energy that flows through all living things and is present in everything around us.
Reiki is a very beautiful thing. It is something that has and continues to fill me with delight, when I practice on myself or when I treat others. It reminds me that despite everything you read and see on the News that can fill us with despair, the true foundation of life is pure love.
It is a very soothing, non invasive and relaxing treatment. There is no age restriction and young people can have a treatment in the company of their parent if they would prefer, without comprising the benefits.
Reiki is a wonderful resource to help people through difficult times.

Neurofeedback
Neurofeedback is a non invasive brain training technique which is intended to improve health and wellbeing. It reads the electrical activity of the brain via EEG (electroencephalography) and then relays information back to the brain, usually visual or auditory, so that the activity of the brain is changed in some way.
Two Types of Neurofeedback
Most Neurofeedback systems attempt to encourage the brain to move towards specific states or brain waves. This process is referred to as Linear or Traditional Neurofeedback.
Non-linear/ Dynamical Neurofeedback (the process I use) is different to the linear approach because it is the brain that will choose to make its own changes, they will not be directed by me. As a result, this approach is safe and side effect free. It is about optimising brain activity across the whole brain, every single frequency, rather than specific targeted ones as in the linear approach.
The inherent nature of our body and brain is to help us survive and adapt as effectively as possible and that, as with all natural systems, change doesn’t always happen in a linear, predictable way. So with this approach, we give the brain feedback about its own activity and know that the brain will learn to autocorrect its inefficiency in its own time. No brain map or diagnosis is needed with this approach because it is a training for the brain to change itself, no clinician is driving a desired outcome.
Dynamical Neurofeedback software, uses its advanced algorithm, to present feedback matched with millisecond to millisecond changes in brain activity. The feedback effectively holds up a mirror to the brain prompting it to reassess and adjust its own activity. Ultimately this training helps the brain to reclaim its natural ability to be flexible, adaptive and resilient.
I use a Dynamical Neurofeedback system called NeurOptimal ®. This system was developed in 1999 by Clinical Psychologists Dr Valdeane and Susan Brown.
Neurofeedback is not a medical treatment but a training for the brain. It has shown improvement in the treatment of disorders such as; ADHD, ASD, anxiety, depression, drug and alcohol addiction and insomnia, to name just a few. With this type of therapy, as with Reiki, you are in complete control of using your body (your brain, in the case of Neurofeedback) to help support and work as affectively as it can.
Neurofeedback is considered a gentle, painless, and non invasive method of restoring effective balance within the Central Nervous System.
